Summer School Hannover 25
One task of landscape architecture is the regenerative design of degraded landscapes that have been altered by human and non-human influences. These changes are clearly visible in the Harz Mountains southeast of Hannover. Exploring the relationships between human and non-human actors in the Harz Mountains plays an important role in this year´s summer school organized by the Leibniz University Hannover. How does coexistence work in the Harz Mountains? How do the actors respond to change? The students’ task was to develop a vision for the future of a specific area in the Harz Mountains that describes and further develops the emotional, material, cultural, and natural resonance of the Harz Mountains. Could the death of the spruce trees even be an opportunity for the residents and visitors of the Harz Mountains to grow together with other living beings in new and innovative ways?
